What great news to kick start 2021! Singapore Airlines has announced that PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite members will have their memberships extended for yet another year. This is over and above the first extension that was previously announced earlier in 2020.

This second extension is applicable for PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite members whose memberships are due to expire between March 2021 and February 2022.
Additionally, any Elite miles earned in the 12 months leading up to this second extension will count towards the next membership renewal that is due between March 2022 and February 2023. This is in addition the the slew of support schemes rolled out in the second half of 2020.
Another enhancement to further assist KrisFlyer members with their renewals is that flights on Scoot will now allow you to accrue Elite miles, in addition to Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights. This should allow for more flexibility for the accrual of miles across all carriers in the SIA Group when mass travel resumes.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer also announced that the physical membership kits that are usually sent out upon membership renewal will cease from March 2021. This is in support of sustainability efforts to go digital while reducing the carrier’s environmental footprint. That being said, by March 2021, all current PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite members would have received the membership kits with the updated look already. Remember to treat them with care!

Overall, the move by Singapore Airlines to offer another extension does not bode well for travel in 2021. This means that the airline may not expect the bulk of its frequent flyers to resume with mass travel this year. That being said, at least you can take comfort that your membership is safe and secure for another year!
