If you’ve got plans to visit some of the major attractions in Arizona, such as Grand Canyon National Park, Petrified Forest National Park, Meteor Crater Natural Landmark, and Antelope Canyon, then Flagstaff may be a good option to base yourself out of.

Of the major hotel chains, Hilton has a DoubleTree property conveniently located near malls and major stores. The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff should be more than decent for most travellers, including those with children in tow.

Onsite parking is available for guests, which is very convenient. As a whole, the property appears a little dated, but still delivers the Hilton DoubleTree standards it holds itself up against. The check-in process was friendly, and we were issued our key cards with no delay. As per the standard practice at DoubleTree properties, guests are also offered fresh cookies as a warm welcome amenity.

The hotel lobby was expansive, with loads of seating options. There was also a row of computers that served as a business centre of sorts.

Room wise, it doesn’t get any more standard than this. Housekeeping did a great job to ensure that the room was fresh and inviting upon our arrival. All furniture and surfaces were spotless too.

The huge flatscreen television was a nice surprise, a testament that the property makes a conscious effort in keeping up with the times, despite not being located in a major city.

The bathroom had the usual combined shower and tub concept that is of course not as inviting as free standing bathtubs. But as with the rest of the room, everything appeared to be wiped down thoroughly and we had no issues with cleanliness whatsoever. The bathroom was also well stocked with the standard amenities during our stay.

For the convenience of guests, a mini fridge was also available in the room, as well as a safe to safekeep your valuable items.

Facilities wise, the property boasts having two swimming pools – one located indoor and the other outdoor, perfect for those who may fancy a dip even during the winter months. The towel stand was always fully stocked with fresh and clean towels for guests, so no issues in that department too.

As for the fitness centre, there was a good mix of cardio and cable machines, as well as free weights. Everything was well spaced out, and there was ample room for guests to engage in functional workouts and stretching too.

While breakfast was included in our rate, and also since we do enjoy Hilton Honors Diamond privileges, we were always out early during our stay. That being said, we did try their room service menu once – a club sandwich and an Asian stir fry, both of which were pretty decent in terms of portion and taste.

So how would I rate this property overall? Given that everything, from staff friendliness to room cleanliness, and the range of facilities and amenities typical of DoubleTree properties, I think the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff is a great choice for travellers! I love the fact that it is quite equidistant from some of the major national parks in the area, which makes it very ideal to base yourself out of during your trip. The property is also very consistent with the DoubleTree brand, so you would expect a good sense of familiarity with the brand during your stay.
