Singapore Airlines has announced the launch of a one-stop COVID-19 testing service, allowing passengers to book their pre-departure COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and serology tests, and receive their test results online.

This pilot service is only currently available to passengers departing from Singapore, Jakarta and Medan for now, and should be extended to other cities within the SIA Group network if the pilot service is deemed to be successful. SIA is partnering the company Collinson for this pilot service.

Of course, the tests do not come free. As per the website at the time of writing, the PCR test alone would cost you S$165, while the PCR and antibody test bundle costs S$214.

As pre-departure testing is expected to become increasingly prevalent with the gradual resumption of air travel worldwide, it is hoped that such a service will allow passengers to arrange for, and obtain their tests and test results respectively, all in a timely fashion prior to their intended date of travel. This latest initiative also complements SIA’s efforts to roll out a new digital health verification process for air travel, that is the first in the world to be based on International Air Travel Association’s (IATA) Travel Pass framework.
