With effect form 1 Aug 2020, some T&Cs that govern the miles earn rate on the HSBC Revolution card will be revised for the better.
You’ll be able to earn 4 mpd on online transactions as well as contactless payments, for eligible transactions in the following spending categories:
- Travel related transactions (e.g. Airlines, Hotels, Car Rentals etc.)
- Department and Retail Stores
- Supermarkets, Dining and Food Delivery
- Transportation (e.g. Grab etc.)
Do note that for contactless transactions, both waving the physical card at Visa payWave terminals or using Apple Pay will count towards the earning of bonus miles.
The 4 mpd is essentially split into 0.4 mpd (or 1X HSBC rewards points) and 3.6 mpd (or 9X HSBC rewards points), with the former being awarded immediately and the latter being awarded at the end of the next calendar month from the date of transaction.
The higher earn rate of 4 mpd is only applicable to the first S$1000 of eligible spend per calendar month under the aforementioned categories. Note that this cap is similar to the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa (PPV) card, although the HSBC Revolution is more favourable since miles are not earned in blocks of S$5, which is the case for the UOB PPV.
Current cardholders as well as those intending to apply for the card would be happy to know that HSBC has also decided to waive all annual fees for this card as well.
