Double rewards for Amex Platinum Charge cardmembers

From now until 20 July 2020, Amex Platinum Charge cardmembers will earn double the usual number of miles for all eligible spending.

The Amex Platinum Charge Card isn’t really a miles card to begin with. It is more of a lifestyle card, with amazing dining and travel perks that come along with a pretty hefty annual fee.

However, with this current promotion, the Amex Platinum Charge Card trumps most other general spending cards when it comes to earning miles. The usual earn rate of 0.78 mpd is now doubled to 1.56 mpd, which surpasses other cards like the BOC Elite Miles World Mastercard that has an earn rate of 1.5 mpd.

For transactions with Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, and Scoot, the usual earn rate of 1.95 mpd is now doubled to 3.9 mpd, putting it almost on par with other cards that earn you 4 mpd for online transactions where you tend to perform such travel-related transactions, such as the DBS Women’s World Mastercard.

Of course the largest boost to miles earn rates are with Amex Platinum EXTRA partners. Spending at these merchants usually earn you 7.8 mpd, but with the current promotion, the earn rate has doubled to 15.6 mpd! Some of these merchants include Fred Perry, Lee Hwa Jewelry, and Samsonite. The full list of Platinum EXTRA partners can be found here.

In light of the current situation, Amex Platinum Charge Cardmembers would probably not be able to maximise the dining and travel benefits that come along with the card. However, this promotion has come at a great time for the Amex Platinum Charge Card to continue to be relevant as you spend.
