Located in the heart of the city centre in Stockholm, the Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm Kungsholmen is perfect for travellers who wish to be a short driving distance to the major attractions in the city and vicinity.
The building exterior is what one might expect for a modern hotel. For those driving, you may park just beside the main porch while you check in, and then reposition your car in the parking garage once you’ve completed the check in formalities.
The lobby was huge and flooded with lots of natural lighting, dominated by seating furniture and a staircase descending from the mezzanine floor overlooking the lobby.
Check in was swift, and as a Marriott Gold Elite member, the staff thanked me for my continued support. My room was also ready ahead of the official check in time. Once my keys were issued, I headed straight for my room to freshen up.
Consistent with the Courtyard brand, the room wasn’t over the top at all, with simple yet functional furnishing. The colour scheme was a little dated but this should be easily fixed with some minor refurbishing.
The room was actually quite spacious as the furniture was placed only where they should be, leaving pockets of space around for my suitcases and personal effects. As you can see, adjoining rooms are available upon request.
There was even room for an armchair right next to the window.
The bathroom was also surprisingly spacious, with the choice of tiles and colours, plus sufficient lighting, made it seem very sterile.
Of course, the room came equipped with a wardrobe with a safe, as well as the usual beverages.
I wasn’t expecting a huge gym for a Courtyard property, but this establishment proved me wrong. The fitness centre was more than adequate, and was equipped with cardio machines, and a good mix of other cable machines and free weights. There was also enough space for those into functional fitness routines.
Breakfast was included in my rate, and I thankfully I made it down early enough on most days to beat the morning crowd. However, once the staff seats you, you’ll be able to enjoy your meal.
There’s quite a spread available to choose from, with the typical breakfast selection, together with heaps of bread, fruit and yoghurt.
Fancy a snazzy place to chill in the evening? Guests can wine and dine at Bjork Bar and Grill, which serves up great food and drinks.
It seems that the property also hosts functions regularly, as you can see from the layout of the mezzanine floor.
Overall, the Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm Kungsholmen far exceeded my expectations. I had no issues during my stay whatsoever, and the facilities like the gym and dining options were all well above average. This hotel is a great choice for those visiting Stockholm.
