Alaska Mileage Plan is the frequent flyer programme of Alaska Airlines, and has numerous partner airlines for award redemptions.
With immediate effect, the programme will introduce a cap of 150000 miles purchased per calendar year, including bonus miles, that come with such purchases. If you’re a recipient of such purchased miles, the cap of 150000 still applies.
Prior to this move, Alaska Mileage Plan only capped the number of miles purchased per transaction (excluding bonuses) at 60000, so you could potentially purchase unlimited miles from the programme.
This move may seem a step backward, but you could still do much with 150000 per year, such as the Japan Airlines ‘one way’ trick that only costs 25000 miles.
In the meantime, take advantage of an ongoing sale where you’ll receive 40% bonus miles from your next purchase with the programme.
