African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel, Autograph Collection

As part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, the African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel in Cape Town is cradled by Table Mountain National Park to the south and Signal Hill to the west, and located just a short drive away from the V&A Waterfront. I had made my reservation through the American Express Travel desk, a service enjoyed by American Express Platinum Charge cardmembers, and I was very pleased with their recommendation.

The property boasts a modern glass façade with direct access to the main street.

After depositing my car at the onsite parking facility, I proceeded to check in. I was in a dire need to freshen up after a long drive, and thankfully my room was available for me. Things were starting to heat up in South Africa so I appreciated that the hotel made an effort to maintain a cool ambient temperature on the premises.

The lobby opens up into a huge atrium where some additional seating for guests is provided.

The hotel was also all decked up for the upcoming Christmas season!

The room was an oasis that provided some respite from the afternoon heat. With curtains that were effective in keeping out the midday heat. The room was dressed in soothing colours and lighting that accentuated the interiors very nicely.

The front of the room was a little bare, but it was a bold statement in itself, that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with keeping things simple.

This room is also perfect for couples, and you can see why. Well at least you can watch your favourite show on television from the comfort of the bathtub.

Here’s another view of the bathroom. There are actually two sinks so couples don’t have to wait for their turn using them.

Guests also get to enjoy complimentary coffee and tea in the room.

After settling into my room, I decided to tour the premises. Not many lifts have this, but a large comfortable sofa? That’s style right there.

The hotel has a gym with a good mix of cardio and cable machines, plus free weights. There’s also a large area for stretching or static exercises.

Thinking of getting a tan? Just head to the outdoor pool and bask under the sun to your heart’s delight. Just remember to use some sunblock.

If you love dining in at hotels, you can savour the best at Savour Restaurant, located at the hotel lobby. The establishment whips up contemporary dishes throughout the day.

The Murano Bar, also located at the hotel, can prepare you drinks of any kind.

For breakfast, guests get to enjoy a huge buffet spread with the usual offerings. There was a good mix of hot and cold foods to choose from.

The African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel is a great option for those visiting Cape Town. While a stay at the hotel requires a short drive away from the waterfront, it is well within walking distance of other major attractions. Plus, you can get amazing views of Table Mountain!
