In yet another move by banks to encourage holiday spending, DBS Altitude cardholders can stand to earn up to 12000 miles for overseas spend and on the dedicated Expedia website, from now until 28 Feb 2019.
Here’s a breakdown of what you could potentially earn if you max out the promotion:
You must first register for this promotion, and meet the spend criteria within the promotion period to enjoy the bonus miles. Card-not-present transactions, such as online ones (except the dedicated Expedia website), are also excluded from this promotion.
If you only meet the the S$2500 overseas spend criteria, you’ll only enjoy up to 2.8 mpd, which is marginally better than the Citibank promotion, but falls short of other overseas spend cards, such as the BOC Elite Miles World Mastercard (5 mpd), UOB PRVI Miles (4.8 mpd), UOB Visa Signature (4 mpd) and the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite card (3 mpd).
If you manage to meet both the overseas and Expedia spend criteria, then you’ll get to enjoy a miles earn rate of up to 3.8 mpd, which is fairly decent. However, bear in mind that those who have a specialised spending strategy (i.e. with multiple cards for specific spend categories) will not find this promotion useful, and can potentially earn more miles by using a portfolio of cards.
