From now until the end of September 2018, earn additional miles from the 1:1:1 promotion, where you’ll earn an additional 1 mile or 1% cash rebate (not interested), for every $1 of eligible spend. These are on top of the usual card benefits, and you’ll only get to enjoy them subject to a minimum spend of S$1000 per calendar month.
I am currently holding onto 2 Maybank credit cards. For the Maybank World Mastercard, this means that I will be earning 5 mpd (up from the usual 4 mpd) at selected dining and retail merchants, such as Paradise, Crystal Jade and Club 21. With the Citibank/Apple Pay promotion now ended, the next best card would be to use the UOB PPV in conjunction with Mileslife to earn up to 7 mpd. However, if the dining merchant isn’t on the app, but happens to be one of those that allow for accelerated miles earning using the Maybank World Mastercard, then this would be my go-to card for the next couple of months.
For the Maybank Horizon Visa Signature Card, I will be able to earn 4.2 mpd for all dining and transport (up from the usual 3.2 mpd), 3 mpd for air tickets/travel packages and foreign currency spend (up from the usual 2 mpd), and 1.4 mpd for all other retail spend (up from the usual 0.4 mpd). Until I receive my BOC Elite Miles World Mastercard which can earn me 5 mpd on all foreign currency spend until 31 Dec 2018, this card should be able serve me well. In fact, the minimum spend of S$1000 per calendar month during the promotion period is lower than that which is required for the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite card, which earns you 3 mpd for foreign currency spend subject to a minimum of S$2000 per statement cycle.
In my opinion, this promotion has come at a good time since the end of the awesome Citibank/Apple Pay promotion. The OCBC Titanium Rewards mobile payments promotion is also ending on 4 Aug 2018. With fewer cards to choose from when earning from specific spending categories, the Maybank 1:1:1 promotion should prove to be useful, until you get your hands on the BOC Elite Miles World Mastercard that is.
