Located in the heart of Marina Bay in Singapore, the Pan Pacific is ideal for visitors who wish to be within walking distance from some of Singapore’s major tourist attractions, such as the Merlion, Gardens by the Bay, the Esplanade, and Marina Bay Sands.
The Pan Pacific belongs to the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) group of hotels, and as a Discovery Black member, I had the option to check in as early as 9 in the morning. Arriving at the hotel, I headed for the check in desk and identified myself as a GHA Discovery Black member, and was immediately offered a double upgrade to a suite, and was allowed to check in for my stay. The check in staff also confirmed that I could check out at 6 in the evening at the end of my stay, which is another awesome benefit from the GHA Discovery programme.
Once I obtained my keys, as it was still early, I headed up to the Pacific Club for breakfast, since I was offered complimentary access to the lounge for my stay. The buffet spread was decent, and I could enjoy my eggs prepared to order, while enjoying magnificent views of the Marina Bay area.
Once I was done with breakfast, I headed to my suite. Upon entering, I was amazed by how large the room was. I stepped into the main living room, which had a dining area as well. This area is perfect for hosting your guests, or if you would like to dine in during your stay, which is quite unlikely given that the Pacific Club serves food and beverages almost throughout the day.
The suite also comes with a guest bathroom, so you don’t have to worry about your guests having to walk into your bedroom to use the bathroom.
The television had a huge selection of channels, and it was also possible for me to hook up my own devices using the HDMI cables provided for more entertainment options.
I also noticed that my welcome amenity was also prepared for my arrival, another benefit which I appreciate.
There was also a selection of coffee and tea, which was a nice touch.
Proceeding into the bedroom, I was pleased to see how beautifully designed it was. Everything was so thoughtfully arranged to maximise the use of space. The king-sized bed was very comfortable, and just like the television in the living room, the bedroom had a similar one with as many entertainment options.
Before entering the bathroom, you’d have to walk past the huge wardrobe, complete with bathrobes, slippers, a safe, as well as lots of space to stow your belongings during your stay.
The bathroom was also, no surprises here, very spacious. It had a full sized shower, and a bath tub to soak in after a long and stressful day.
The Pacific Club serves afternoon tea, and that was where I was headed to satisfy my hunger. Once again, the weather was perfect to soak in the sights while enjoying my afternoon tea. The food selection far surpassed my expectations once again in terms of both the spread and quality. I could also select from a long list of beverages to go with my food.
Before the evening cocktail hours, I had just enough time to wade in the pool, and hit the gym for my workout. The pool at the Pan Pacific was large enough to accommodate the guests that afternoon, most of whom were probably hoping to get a good tan under the hot sun.
The gym was fully equipped, with cable machines and free weights to cater to workouts of varying intensity levels. There were lots of cardio machines too, great if you don’t wish to go for a run under the hot afternoon sun.
I headed back to the Pacific Club for the evening cocktails. As Singapore celebrates its National Day on 9 Aug every year, guests can expect to enjoy certain elements of the National Day Parade rehearsals leading up to the actual event. I was fortunate to have chosen the perfect spot for viewing some of them, while enjoying a fine selection of cocktails, mocktails, and some beautifully presented and tantalising food options.
The evening culminated in an impressive fireworks display, signalling the finale of the National Day Parade rehearsal that evening.
Guests can opt to stay till late, when the Pacific Club is much quieter, perhaps for a chat or maybe to clear some outstanding work. I retired for the night feeling very pleased with the evening cocktail service at the lounge.
The next morning, I had the option to have my breakfast either at the Edge downstairs, or at the Pacific Club. I was informed that the former had more food options, but it could get a little packed. I decided to head to the Edge for something light first, before heading to the Pacific Club for more.
True enough, the Edge was pretty crowded by the time I arrived. However, there were more than enough tables to accommodate guests, so the crowd wasn’t that much of an issue. The breakfast spread was very impressive, from noodles, congee, and other hot dishes, to sweets and waffles, great if you’ve got a huge appetite.
Once I was done at the Edge, I headed up to the Pacific Club for some peace and quiet. I saved some space for more breakfast, and the food selection while more limited than the Edge, did not disappoint at all. In fact, the Pacific Club offers a much better breakfast experience given the exclusivity of the lounge.
As mentioned, I was given a late check out time of 6 in the evening, so I once again headed to the Pacific Club in the afternoon for tea. As a GHA Discovery Black member, I could potentially find everything I will ever need for my stay within the hotel. From food and beverage, to fitness and relaxation, the Pan Pacific Singapore promises to provide nothing but the very best for its guests.
