The Double Tree by Hilton property in New York City – Chelsea is located within walking distance of the Times Square theatre district, and the Flatiron District. The 26-storey building is needed a bit of updating, and is indeed undergoing a facelift now.
There’s a nice sheltered walkway leading from the sidewalk to the hotel’s main entrance.
Check-in was a breeze and I was issued my key cards almost immediately after handing the front desk my Hilton HHonors Gold card.
Heading into my room, I found the furnishings a tad dated, but as with the Hilton brand’s style and hospitality, I couldn’t find anything to complain about. The sheets were pressed and room close to spotless.
At the front of the room was a dressing table of decent size, flatscreen television, and a chest of drawers together with the wardrobe.
The bathroom was typical of most US hotels, and it wasn’t cramped at all.
I wasn’t expecting much when I headed to the fitness centre. It was very basic, with some cardio equipment and a rack of free weights, but I got by.
I wasn’t particularly impressed with this property, neither was I let down. For all you Hilton fans out there, there are quite a number of Hilton properties in New York City, so you might wish to scout around for one with a more modern feel.
