Credit cards issued by local banks tend to have their promotions aligned to the school holidays. Here are some promotions that can earn you more miles during the mid-year school holidays.
UOB PRVI Miles: Get 3 miles for every S$1 spent overseas
From now until 30 Jun 2018, receive 3 miles for every S$1 spent overseas dining, shopping, accommodation, and online shopping. The transactions must be made in foreign currency. In order to enjoy this accelerated earn rate, you must first register here, and spend at least S$1000 overseas during the promotion period, and be one of the first 1000 registered Cardmembers who meet the above qualifying spend.
Now while this may seem a sure deal on the surface, bear in mind that you’ll never know if you’ve made the first 1000 registered Cardmembers meeting the required qualifying spend in order to enjoy the 3 mpd promotion. So, unless you’re already on holiday and can meet the minimum spend in the very near future, go ahead and use your UOB PRVI Miles card for this promotion.
The UOB PRVI Miles card usually earns you 2.4 mpd for overseas spend. However, if you’re holding on to the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite card, it will get you 3 mpd on overseas spend, subject to a minimum spend of S$2000 per statement cycle. If you’ve got more cards, you’ve got more options.
OCBC Voyage Card
The OCBC Voyage Card usually earns you 2.3 mpd for all overseas spending. However, from now until 15 Jul 2018, use your OCBC Voyage Card abroad and earn 3 mpd. This is an even better deal than using the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite card that earns you 3 mpd, but only if the minimum spend of S$2000 per statement cycle is fulfilled.
But wait! For shopaholics, you will earn 4 mpd for all online and offline shopping, both local and overseas, if you use your OCBC Titanium Rewards Card. Therefore, if the bulk of your overseas purchases is mainly on shopping, the above promotions may not matter so much after all.
