If you’re looking for a luxury hotel stay right in the centre of Singapore’s civic district, then the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach is just for you. It is located justĀ steps away from City Hall and entertainment hubs Raffles City and Suntec City.
Once you step out of your vehicle at the main lobby, that’s where the real magic begins.
Enter the lobby and you’ll be greeted with high ceilings and beautifully decorated walls at the check-in area. The lobby is arranged in a linear fashion, with the check-in desks lining the entire length of the lobby.
I arrived at the Marriott Rewards counter and having identified myself as a Gold Elite member, was expeditiously processed and I was soon on my way.
I knew I was in for a treat as I walked along the hallway to my room.
Upon entering my room, I was impressed with the interior design and how the colours complemented each other so nicely. The furnishings were contemporary and had a modern elegance to them.
There was a nice area to sit by the window for an afternoon read.
The table in front of the television doubled as a work desk, and it came with a reading light.
The good use of reflective surfaces gave the illusion of space. Set nicely into the wall was a minibar and refrigerator.
In the wardrobe were extra pillows, bathrobes and an umbrella, just in case.
The bathroom was huge, with a shower and standalone bathtub. Once again, great use of mirrors.
Once I was done exploring my room, I decided to explore the common areas at the property. The pool was gorgeous, providing a spectacular view of the Singapore skyline. It was a windy day and the water was a little cold. A heated pool would have been nice.
Next to the pool, guests can also have access to a fully equipped gym, with all the cable machines and free weights you’ll need for your workout. I thought that the huge screen against the wall was interesting. Videos of people exercising kept looping and it sure gave me the inspiration to work harder at the gym.
As a Gold Elite member, I could access the executive lounge for my entire stay. Here are the opening hours for reference.
There was a free flow of drinks, and light snacks were served throughout the day.
The lounge is expansive and there was ample seating. The bar was also fully stocked.
The next morning, I had the option of dining at the main restaurant across the lobby, but I was shocked to see a queue to get in. Instead, since I had access to the executive lounge, I decided to have my breakfast there instead.
It was a good decision not to queue for breakfast. The executive lounge had more than enough for me, and the breakfast spread was very decent, with a wide selection of pastries, cereals, salads, and hot dishes.
If you’ve got the time, make sure to take a walk around the exterior of the building to admire the lovely architecture. No wonder its called the south beach.
I had an excellent stay at the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach, and I’ll be back again!
