Formerly the Sheraton Diera, this hotel is situated close to Dubai International, and is hence ideal for business travellers.
The hotel has since undergone some refurbishment in order to keep up with the times. During my visit, I found the lobby a little dull, but with just enough elegant touches. Perhaps it was the choice of colours and furnishing that gave me that impression.
The room, however, was very decent, with two beds and a flat screen television. Some hot beverages were also provided.
There was a sofa that sort of constituted the ‘living area’, but it was passable.
In the built-in wardrobe was a safe and some other amenities. The dressing table was a little low, but the chair was surprisingly comfortable.
There was absolutely nothing impressive about the bathroom.
Looking out the window was no beautiful scenery, but an open atrium, where at the bottom was the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was served there daily and the spread was pretty impressive with a wide selection of local fare. Dinner buffets were also available at the same restaurant.
Up on the roof was the pool, that lacked any appeal, but at least it afforded an unobstructed view of the surroundings. Buildings are built low-rise due to the vicinity to the airport.
In all, you can get much better hotels at more convenient locations in Dubai. As it was a short stay, I felt that the hotel could meet my needs. For stays longer than 2 nights, I would suggest some other hotels that are situated closer to the major attractions in Dubai.
