There are two Ritz-Carlton properties in Jakarta, and one of which, The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Mega Kuningan is located within the business district, right next to the ITC Kuningan and Lotte Shopping Avenue.
The exterior of the building is similar to what you would expect from most present day hotels.
The driveway was lined with tall columns belonging to the older facade, juxtaposed with a more modern glass entrance. As with most hotels in Jakarta, security was tight and all bags were scanned before they were permitted in the building.
Enter the hotel and you’ll be received by a spacious lobby, lined with walls of marble and tall palm trees. Proceed right to the end of the lobby for the check-in counters. My keys were promptly issued and I was shown to my room.
The room seemed a little old fashioned, but quite spacious. The king sized bed occupied the centre of the room, with a large ottoman right at the foot of the bed.
Closer to the entrance of the room was a seating area with a couple of sofas and a coffee table, which I didn’t find much use for during my stay.
There was also a fairly large work desk right by the window, positioned in such a way that you can still watch your favourite shows on the flat screen television while finishing up your work at the desk.
The bathroom was also huge, with separate shower and bathtub facilities.
With two sinks, you won’t have to wait your turn when travelling with your companion.
The bathtub is located right beside a large window so you can enjoy the view while having your bubble bath.
The room also came with a basket of snacks and complimentary water. The wardrobe was also stocked with the usual bathrobes and ironing board.
The hotel boasts a large outdoor pool, with loads of poolside seating, perfect for getting that afternoon tan.
For those who wish to workout while travelling, you’d like to know that the fitness centre comes furnished with some of the latest gym equipment. Plus the fitness centre is very spacious, with classrooms that you can use for some HIIT exercises perhaps.
I had a very pleasant stay at this property, although I am keen to check out the other Ritz-Carlton property across town one day, which I’m sure won’t disappoint as well.
