Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge (Business Class) Singapore (SIN)

Singapore Airlines has announced plans to refurbish its lounges located in Changi Airport in the coming months. In fact, the SilverKris Lounges at Changi have served the airline for many years, and it is timely for this refurbishment in order to keep up with the times.

In Changi Terminal 3, where most Singapore Airlines flights operate out from, the SilverKris Lounge is located on the floor above the main transit area.

Once you take the escalator up to the main landing, you’ll see the large entrance to the lounge. Staff will typically come forward to inspect your boarding pass before scanning it prior to entry.

This lounge is for all Singapore Airlines passengers travelling in Suites, First and Business Class. I have already done a review of The Private Room, so this review will focus on the Business Class section.

The lounge can get really packed in the evenings, which coincide with many long-haul departures. If your flight departs later in the night, you might want to grab something to eat in another lounge if you do have access to other lounges, before returning to the SilverKris Lounge for some drinks after the crowd starts to thin out.

That being said, there’s quite a lot of seating available throughout the lounge. But when operating at maximum capacity, you may face some difficulty trying to find an empty seat.

Food wise, there is a decent selection. At certain times, food stands are set up to serve out portions of local fare, such as kueh pie tee and roasted meat with rice.

Otherwise, the self-serve area is always stocked with food, which is always routinely replenished even during busy periods.

You’ll also be spoilt for choice when it comes to the beverages on offer here.

Literature is also available for passengers, including the most up to date newspapers and magazines.

It’s important to keep track of your flight, and since flight calls are not made in the lounge, departure screens are also available for viewing near the entrance of the lounge.

Overall, the SilverKris Lounge has done well over the years, but an update is definitely needed now, given the intense competition between airlines in the provision of pre-departure lounge service to their passengers. We’re all definitely looking forward to the refurbished SilverKris Lounge in the coming months.
