Important Update: Standard Chartered has decided to bring forward the deadline for the sign up promotion due to an overwhelming response. You now have until today (31 Jul 2019) to apply and have your application approved for the Standard Chartered X Card in order to receive the 100000 miles welcome bonus with minimum spend.
The new Standard Chartered X Card was launched today to much fanfare. Presumably targeted at affluent Millennials, this card aims to provide much flexibility in the way accrued points can be used.
This card is actually a Visa Infinite metal card, with an annual income requirement of S$80000, lower than other cards of the same tier.
The number of miles from local and overseas general spend is only 1.2 mpd and 2 mpd respectively, which is hardly anything to be impressed about.
However, the biggest draw of the card is that you’ll receive 100000 bonus miles when you apply by 31 Aug 2019 31 Jul 2019, and spend S$6000 in the first 2 months after your card approval (no later than 31 Oct 2019). Your card must also be in good standing 6 months after account opening, and you must have settled the hefty S$695 annual fee. Technically, the bonus is only 70000 miles, since 30000 miles constitutes the welcome gift from the payment of the annual fee.
This is the biggest sign up bonus that we’ve seen in Singapore to date. However, certain spending categories will not count towards the S$6000 spend requirement for the 100000 miles. The full T&Cs can be found here.
Note that this card doesn’t have the best earn rates for general spending, but if you have big ticket purchases coming up, it wouldn’t hurt to apply for this card and reap the bonus miles from it.
