Formerly the Hilton Edinburgh Airport, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Edinburgh Airport is great for tourists and business travellers arriving into Edinburgh Airport late in the night, with the intention to defer onward travel within Scotland till the next day.
The property is located just across the street from the airport, making it very accessible.
The lobby was huge, but rather dimly lit. There were lots of seating available too, but I didn’t have to wait long as my room was ready upon arrival.
As I arrived in Edinburgh late in the night, I was almost ready to hit the sack. The King sized bed was inviting and very comfortable, with the right firmness. The room also felt large as I was the only staying guest.
Together with the coffee and dressing tables, cable television and complimentary water, the room felt complete to me.
The bathroom was in need of some updating as I found it dull and lacking any character. But size wise it was more than sufficient.
I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and recharged. As a Hilton HHonors Gold tier member, breakfast was complimentary. There was a standard selection of hot and cold foods, and the overall breakfast service was pretty much spot on.
For a DoubleTree property, the hotel has excellent fitness facilities, from a fully equipped gym to an indoor pool, so guests can keep fit during their stay, irrespective of the season.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Edinburgh Airport, and I find it especially great for those transiting through Edinburgh Airport.
