How does it feel to live inside a church? Well, look no further. Located midway between Brussels and Antwerp, and just 20 minutes from Brussels by car, Martin’s Patershof in Mechelen is the place for you. Conveniently situated in the city’s historic centre, this hotel is ideal for travellers who wish to explore this charming city on foot.
This hotel looks just like a church, as you can see from the façade. But take a step inside and you’ll be surprised at what this hotel has to offer.
The lobby was modern and inviting, with high ceilings and imposing pillars that were complemented with contemporary furnishings.
There were many sofas to lounge in, as well as a lobby bar for those who’d fancy a drink or two.
Now having seen the lobby and common areas, I couldn’t wait to check into my room. As I walked along the corridors, I was fascinated by the beautiful arches that lined the hallway.
And then, I was speechless. The room, dimly lit but glowed with colour from light streaming in through the stained glass windows, was mesmerising.
The room wasn’t large to begin with, but the layout and soft colours provided the illusion of space. Overall, the room was really cozy.
The flat screen television, dressing table, and chairs were sufficient as far as the room furnishings go.
And guess what? All rooms come with a bear for company.
The bathroom was adorned with beautiful arches and came equipped with a bathtub.
Overall, a charming hotel that is perfect for a romantic getaway. Be sure to book a stay at Martin’s Patershof if you’re in Mechelen.
